Online Consultations & other Requests

New system for all requests - Please have a go! 

 

You can now make a request for an appointment, a home visit, a sick note or prescription, send us your BP readings, and much more.  You can do this from 7am each work day morning. This means you do not have to queue up at the door or on the telephone.  If you dont have access to the internet then we can complete the online form for you.

Please scroll to the bottom of each page, you will first be asked to verify this is not an emergency, you can then log in using your NHS App login or use it without, it is better if you use the NHS app as this will prefill the form and remember your details.

We dont make appointments before a clinician has reveiwed the request.  Our appointments are then booked based on medical need and prioritised by clinical staff.  We hope this will make booking an appointment easier and more equitable for all. 

You can submit an administrative or medical query using your phone, tablet or computer.  This will save you time queuing on the telephone and we hope will be a more efficient way of working. A member of the team will respond to you to help you with your request via text, email or phone call.  

We will aim to respond within 24 hours to offer you an appointment date and time or advice. If the request is in the future (more than 2 weeks) we may not be in touch straight away.

If the service has reached capacity for safe working you will not be able to send medical request during that time.  

Our reception staff can complete this for patients without access to the internet, but please be aware their calls will take longer and therefore it is far quicker for you to complete this yourself if you can, or a member of your family or a carer can submit that on your behalf. 

GP Training

We are an Oxford Region training practice and regularly have Learning Doctors in the practice.  Occasionally, video recordings of consultations are made for teaching purposes; these are viewed only by doctors. You will always be told when a video is being made and your consent sought. Please tell us if you would rather not take part.

As a training practice, Rectory Meadow is regularly assessed by other doctors from outside the district. They do need to view some medical records. If you are unhappy with this, please let us know and we will ensure that your records are not used for assessment purposes.

Specialist Trainee Doctors 

We usually have one or two Specialist Trainee Doctors (ST Doctors) with us for a year or more's training. ST Doctors are qualified doctors who have undergone substantial training in a hospital and then spend a year in an appointed general practice before settling down in a partnership.

Medical Students

In addition, our Practice is a "community teaching practice" for King's College London School of Medicine.  With the supervision of your GP or nurse, medical students may, with your consent in advance, join your consultation.  This is one way medical students learn to become good doctors and understand patients' views about their care.

The Practice offers care planning and first contact physio appointments on Mondays between 18:00 and 20:00

 

We also offer group consultations on 1 saturday morning each month where we focus on areas such as :

Falls prevention

Chronic pain

Back or knee pain

Menopause

Home Visits

If possible, we prefer to see you at the surgery where we have all the necessary equipment and resources to treat you properly. However, we can arrange to visit those too ill or infirm to come to us.

Please telephone the surgery or send in an online request via Klinik before 10.00am if a home visit is required on that day. Please give the receptionist or secretary as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to house calls.

Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time that it takes to do a home visit.

Community Pharmacies

The Community Pharmacy team may be the most experienced in certain situations, and it can be quicker for you to utilise their expertise and services. 

NHS guidelines advise which medications may only be available to purchase over the counter. This can save a lot of time and community pharmacists can provide advice on many ailments.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Please let us know as soon as possible if you no longer need an appointment so we can cancel and rebook for another patient.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs

 

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
